Lawn Care: Questions and Answers

Q. Our lawn has developed a series of mounds on the surface along the mowing lines. What’s causing this?

A. It is an effect known as ‘washboarding’ and it’s caused by consistent mowing in the same direction. It is often caused by ride-on cylinder mowers. Mow in different directions and fill ridges with a light top dressing.
