Lawn Care: Questions & Answers

Q. We have some yellow patches on the lawn with strands of grass that are pink in colouration. What caused this?

A. It can be difficult to tell without close inspection but if your soil is light, and there has been heavy rain, the nitrogen in the soil can get washed out causing a fungal disease called Red Thread. Treat with a nitrogen-rich fertiliser.
