Q. Our grass has become thin and sparse. What could be causing this?
A. There are various causes for grass becoming thin, the main ones being incorrect mowing, starvation, poor aeration and deep shade. If grass is cut too short it loses its strength. A good feed in spring into summer and again in autumn is important. Aerate to get oxygen to the roots and provide drainage. Cut back overhanging branches and bushes if you can.
