Q How do I know how long to leave the sprinkler running on the lawn without wasting water?


A Here’s a tip from the Royal Horticultural Society: for a green lawn use the sprinkler once a week. Put a clean open jam jar on the lawn and leave the sprinkler running until there is 13mm (0.5 inches) of water collected in the jar.
